a woman asks me with a tone coated in false sincerity. I think to myself “You barely know her. Just give her the answer she expects, she wouldn’t understand if you told the truth anyway.” and what comes out of my mouth is a sloppy mess of strung together lies, “Yeah, I’m just tired.”
